Anyone who knows me also knows that I am almost permanently ready to start a discussion on about about everything. For now, the discussion topics on this blog will fit mostly in two categories:
- Idées reçues. A French locution which does not translate well. The best translation I found is “cliché”, which does not quie make it. Still, the idea is here to discuss the little sentences that we constantly hear, but seldom think about. The first one will be one of the most common about Java Card, Java Card cards are less secure than native cards.
- Open issues. The Java Card specification is precise, but not complete. The issues that remain open often lead to endless discussions, because there are several views on the idea. I’ll post my views, sometimes the other ones, and the idea is to warn about these little non portable details.
If you believe that there are other things worth discussing, let me know, except if you think that I should compare products, or assess a given product: I will not do that.
What do you think about these two additionnal topics?
1. “Java Card applications” for discussions on original, innovative, unforseen, bien vu, smart (or dumb) usage of Java Card in real-life applications.
2. “Java Card research” for reporting on what researchers (academics and industrial) are doing with and around Java Card.
May I add that periodic surveys about Java Card research activities would be valuable articles too.
You are right, jjvan2. Applications and research should definitely be covered.
