JavaOne update

Either I did not wear my glasses last time I looked, or Sun added more sessions to JavaOne. It seems that this next instance of the conference could be a bit interesting. Among the new things, there are technical sessions:

  • One by Sun and Nokia, about JSR-177, entitled What to do with APDU? This is quite amazing, as Nokia has not always been the greatest promoter of this technology.
  • One about Java Card and WLAN, by Pascal Urien, the greatest promoter of Java Card in WiFi environments.
  • An interesting presentation involving Ram Banerjee (Sun’s Java Card marketing chief) about mobile payment for the poor in Africa.

Then, there is a BOF session:

  • Joe Wei and Bela Gangal, from Sun, will discuss Internet use cases for next-generation Java Card, and this will be interesting to compare with Gemalto’s session.

If we add to that many interesting sessions (at least for me), about static analysis, secure coding guidelines, Java ME device fragmentation, Ajax security, open source, and more, things could be interesting.
